Frequently Asked Questions:

Overview:
Applying for a US visa involves a non-refundable and non-transferable visa application fee, commonly referred to as the MRV fee. This fee must be determined before applying for a nonimmigrant visa, regardless of whether the visa is granted. The amount of the fee varies based on the type of visa and your citizenship. Additionally, some applicants may be subject to visa issuance or "reciprocity" fees. Fees associated with each nonimmigrant visa type are detailed on our website.

Please note that the fees listed apply to nonimmigrant visas only.

Payment Information:
Visa fee payment can be completed at any branch of Allied Bank. More payment options can be found here. Find an allied branch easily by clicking here.

Restrictions:
The visa application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. A receipt will be provided upon payment. Fees paid on or after 1 October 2022 are valid for 365 days from the date of issue of receipt. Applicants must submit an interview schedule or waiver request within this 365-day window. The interview does not have to take place within this time frame. For fees issued before October 1, 2022, the deadline has been extended to September 30, 2023.

Types of Visa and Fee Amount:
Application fees vary based on visa types. Common non-immigrant visa types for tourism, business, student, and exchange visas pay a fee of US$185. Application-based visas such as work and religious visas cost US$205. K visas cost US$265, while E visas cost US$315. A comprehensive list of visa types and fee amounts is provided in the tables below.

Types of visa without any fee:
Application fees are not required for certain types of visas, including A, G, C-2, C-3, NATO, and diplomatic visas, pursuant to 22 CFR 41.26. Similarly, exceptions apply to certain groups or circumstances, including those who engage in US government-sponsored official exchanges or travel for humanitarian purposes.

Additional Fees:
In some cases, applicants may be required to pay additional visa fees directly to the National Visa Center, US Embassy/Consulate, or Department of Homeland Security. These additional fees may include nonimmigrant visa issuance ("reciprocity") fees, SEVIS fees for F, M, and J visa participants, and Blanket L fees for fraud prevention and detection.
